Travel Diet Plan

Working out of town doesn't have to mean abandoning your diet goals.

Business travel can be the biggest challenge to any diet plan. Unlike being at home or even on vacation, you don't get to pick when or where or even what you eat. If the boss says, "Let's all go out for a plate of grease and starch," the odds are, you're going out for a plate of grease and starch.

But that doesn't mean there's no hope. As our Biggest Loser Club members discovered, with a little determination and courage, you can stick to the plan, no matter where you go. Here's how they did it:

They chatted online with other BLC members while in their hotel rooms and that kept their morale high: "I feel better than I have ever felt, and I feel so supported by the online support groups that I have joined.

"They stuck to their eating plans, even during meetings and business dinners: "I had to go on a business trip…and managed to still lose two more pounds while I was gone. As long as I ate on target, the lack of exercise didn't hurt me. I was strong enough to make the right food choices in restaurants and was smart enough to pack snacks to eat when I couldn't get out of meetings. I just warned everyone that I would be eating on a regular basis and to ignore me.

"They found ways to add calorie-burning activities to their busy days, such as using the hotel gym at night, walking to meetings instead of taking a cab with the group, and buying one-day guest memberships to nearby gyms.

The main reason these savvy travelers succeeded? Commitment: "I am not on a diet, I have completely changed the way I eat and am enjoying what I eat and how I feel for the first time in my life."
