Healthy Cooking
Whether it's for business or for vacation, going away can translate into packing on the extra pounds. Restaurants (especially in the U.S.) often serve giant portions and don't offer nutritional information about their dishes. Plus, just looking at a menu can tempt you into ordering food you need to avoid.
In fact, studies show that the more frequently you eat out, the more likely you are to gain weight, because restaurants load you up with hidden calories
Why not try a new solution? Cook for yourself while you're away.
The trick is booking a condo or hotel room with a kitchen. It may cost slightly more, but you'll save a bundle by making your meals, and save your diet as well.
To begin, write your grocery list before you go, while your resolve is strong.Prepare all your breakfasts, which are the easiest to schedule, especially for business travelers. Then plan to cook either lunch or dinner each day. Try to use fresh, local ingredients that add the flavor of your destination. For example, sampling fresh papaya in Hawaii. Or adding some Mexican chilis to your chicken tacos.
Make each meal a part of your travel and relaxation. You'll feel better about yourself and come home slimmer.
