How to Join an Existing Buddy Challenge

If you don't have the time to organize, start and lead your own Buddy Challenge, you may want to simply join a Buddy Challenge that's being organized by someone else within your Buddy network.

To join an existing Buddy Challenge, you need to be invited by the leader (who needs to be within your Buddy network):

  • You'll receive an invite message in your Message Center on the site from a Buddy who's starting a Buddy Challenge—just open the invite and click the "accept" button if you want to join the Challenge. A notification message will be sent to the organizing Buddy, and you'll be added to the list of Buddies participating in the Challenge.
  • You can also click the "decline" option in a Challenge invitation if you know another one of your Buddies is going to be starting a Challenge (or, you decide you want to organize a Challenge yourself).
  • The Club member that sent the Buddy Challenge invite will be notified whether you've accepted or declined in their Message Center. The moment you "accept" a Buddy Challenge invite, you will be added to the list of Buddy Challenge participants. At that point, when you click on the "Challenge Central" tab on the site's main top navigation bar, you'll be taken to the home page for the Buddy Challenge you're participating in.

Participating in Multiple Buddy Challenges at the Same Time
  • You can only participate in one Buddy Challenge at a time.
  • If you're already participating in a Challenge that one of your Buddies organized, and you'd like to join another, go to the "Challenge Central" section of the site and click the "Quit This Challenge" tab in the global top sub-navigation bar.
  • Your Buddy who started the Challenge will be notified and remove you from the participants list (note that you'll be removed from the Challenge, and not necessarily from your Buddy's Buddy network).
Telling Your New Buddies About a Buddy Challenge You've Joined
  • You can tell other Buddies on your Buddy list about the Challenge, but only the Challenge organizer can invite members from his/her own Buddy list to participate in a Challenge (and, the window for new participants is only open for one week after a Challenge's start date).
  • If you have a Buddy on your list you'd like to recommend to a Buddy Challenge leader:
    • Ask your Buddy to send a Buddy request to the Challenge organizer (your Buddy can just click the "Add to Buddies" button on the organizer's profile page). Once the organizer accepts this member's Buddy request, the organizer can then choose to invite this member to participate in the Challenge.
    • In addition, you may also want to contact the organizer yourself to let them know that you have a Buddy who wants to participate in the Challenge, and ask them to be on the look out for a Buddy request from this particular member.

  • If you have Buddies on your list that you'd like to Challenge, you may want to consider starting a Buddy Challenge yourself—that way, you can have full control over which Buddies on your list participate.

Tracking Buddy Challenge Results

  • Each week, the weight progress for each Buddy participating in a Challenge is compared and a list is generated based on the people with the greatest percentage of body weight lost—on the Buddy Challenge home page that'll be created when a Challenge is started, the participating Buddies are ranked based on who's the biggest loser!
  • Once the Challenge is set up, this page and info will be accessible by clicking the "Challenge Central" tab on the site's main top navigation bar. The Buddy on your list who organizes and starts the Challenge will be able to choose whether or not to display the weight loss data and rankings on the page.
